"Libqmycroft aims to bring the same #mycroft extension capability to traditional input desktop / mobile applications that want to add support for a voice interface without having each application to go through writing their own web-socket / dbus interface to establish a communication layer with Mycroft."

@tuxdevices "PostmarketOS also supports a small fraction of the consumer watch market, although no watch-friendly UIs are available in it yet."
@bart recently ported the #AsteroidOS UI to @postmarketOS:

Did you know #postmarketOS supports a few smartwatches? Well, now you do!
However, up till now we didn't have a proper UI for them. Since I put a lot of work in the Mer stack to get it running for #Glacier, it was only a few more packages to get #AsteroidOS up and running on #postmarketOS as well!
Merge request coming in real soon!
*adds IBM in list of companies where I don't want to get hired*
Before I started working on #postmarketOS I was a (relatively happy) #SailfishOS user. However, after my Jolla Phone just became too slow for my taste I choose to move back to Android for my next phone rather than choosing another SFOS phone, and help out postmarketOS instead. The proprietary nature of SFOS scared me away.
I'm clearly not alone and this blogpost by our newest pmOS core team member lists a few reasons that also applied to me which is worth reading!
Reminder of why #Signal is far from optimal:
- No #anonymity (every account is connected to a phone number)
- Not #opensource (the git repo of the server hasn't been updated in a year)
- No #decentralization
- No web client, and max. 1 mobile client per account
- No #privacy (your entire contact list is uploaded to the server. It's encrypted, but it's trivial to brute-force encrypted phone numbers. You can prevent it by disabling the PIN feature, but it's enabled by default without warning.)
For anyone using dead keys in their keyboard layout and experiencing the same bug where it's impossible to type the ' character anymore in GTK applications, there is a workaround mentioned in the bug report for it https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/3807#note_1069530
